Handicraft Support Project
Tadhamon Bank, in cooperation with Small and Micro Enterprises Development Unit, sponsored the project (“The Colors of the Qamaryat brings us Together”) within the framework of the bank’s social responsibility to support and encourage handicrafts and preserve the authentic Yemeni cultural heritage.
Where more than 500 Qamarias were ordered in different shapes and sizes and were distributed to the bank's employees and customers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Qamarias remain in their exquisite ornate shapes, encrusted with a world of bright glass colors, a main and original characteristic of Yemeni architecture since ancient times and an aesthetic element that is not devoid of any architectural construction, and besides its artistic value, it also has a religious dimension, as many Yemenis believe that "a house without a Qamaria is a house Without blessing.
"The Qamaria was invented by the Yemeni architect, and the people of Sana'a called it the "Qamaria" due to its transparency and clarity that allow moonlight to enter the interior of the building, and some researchers believe that the reason of the name is due to its whiteness, which is characterized by it because the light that executes from it is pure white, similar to the moonlight. Also, some Qamarias windows are circular, resembling the shape of the full moon at night.
